Mark leads the IBM team dedicated to the success of US Federal organizations using IBM technology—encompassing data management, hybrid cloud, security, automation, and artificial intelligence. He has held many leadership roles within the tech industry, from software development to managed services, and in strategy and business development as well as sales.

Mark was a US Naval Aviator and Test Pilot for 21 years. He commanded an FA-18 Hornet squadron with 10 aircraft and 220 sailors that was recognized as the top Strike-Fighter squadron in the US Atlantic Fleet. He accumulated over 3600 flight hours in more than 40 different aircraft types with nearly 800 aircraft carrier landings.

He has also been involved in information technology businesses for over 30 years, co-founding a couple of small businesses. Microsoft acquired one company he founded and integrated the technology he developed for secure and reliable user management into Windows Server.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Davis, and a Master’s of Science from the University of Tennessee, as well as being a graduate of the US Naval Test Pilot School.

He resides in Herndon, Virginia with his wife, Kellie and son, Chad. He continues to fly recreationally and enjoys playing guitar, evangelizing for hybrid cloud architectures with modern automation, and traveling.
